He ruled a field of grass and weeds,
This feline
king of noble deeds
Twas in the spring of '94
When he first came to our
back door
Sir Robert Cat, brave, true and wise
Would
humbly sit for some small prize
His Queen, Grey Shadow sought to
hide
Until the food was brought outside
And then the King would kindly wait
While Shadow
sat near him and ate
And when his Queen rose from her meal
Sir Robert
bowed to clean the plate
Then Rob in royal fashion rose
And stretched and
yawned
And spread his toes
Then with a rub of thanks he'd purr
And
as Shadow left he'd follow her
And then the King and Queen would lie
In their
grass palace beneath the sky
Until there came one fateful day
When God
took good King Rob away
Unto a place where good cats go
With fields more
green than here below
And on some far celestial shore
Sir Robert sat
outside a door
And as it opened slow and wide
Sir Robert quietly
stepped inside
And there he'll pounce and play again
In some enchanted
forest glen
While Shadow back on earth does wait
Under the
stars for her lost mate
Until some future day when she
Will leave
this earth to be with he
And then the King and Queen will be
Together for
eternity
